LIE Cover 4 by TheDracoJayProduct<- Patreon Ad Version
A "cover" of sorts that I created for Lunar Isolation's  Patreon account.
You're feedback has been amazing so far! Thank you all for supporting LIE :iconlaplz: You're wonderful!

You may have noticed that I've requested critiques here!
I'd be honored and eternally grateful if there are any among you who would be willing to write a serious critique not only of this particular image, but of Lunar Isolation as a whole.
What do you think of the story so far? The characters? What do you like and why do you like it? What needs improvement and why do you feel that it needs improvement?
What do you think that I could do to make the LIE experience even better?

Your art style is well-conceived. The overall blockiness of the character designs hold up well to expressions of emotion and overall dynamics; whether it's a quiet night staring at the moon or giving the Changeling Queen the best left hook this side of Manehatten, it stands on it's own as a style that never goes out of style.

The story is different, while Luna is the focus, it's not JUST about her. We know enough of what happened to be worried, but not enough to draw our own conclusions.
The canon characters are well written, they are in-character enough to match who they are, but there are subtle differences that make them their own. That is not something easily done.
The OC's are also fun to read. They are not just pallet swaps of existing characters, rather, you can see that thought was put into them before the were given names. Pierson, as a father and husband is sweet, and seeing him as a foal had me cracking up, which brings me to my next point.

The ".5 chapters" are excellent side-plots that flesh out the other characters personalities without relying on excessive dialogue. It explains character's relationships with each other and their reactions in a terrific way without getting in the way.
The beauty of that is that if those side-chapters were NOT in the story, the story would still be there and would still be well written, but with them in the story it becomes THAT MUCH BETTER.

Case in point, we see throughout the main that Spitfire and Pierson have some sort of tension that they appear to manage, with Spitfire being more bothered by it.

That alone lends credibility because not everyone gets along with everyone, so seeing this air of tension between them makes them believable. But the side chapter going into their youth, and seeing how they were friends, drifted apart, got back together, almost made it as a couple and then seeing Spitfire's reaction to meeting Pierson's fiance, Caroline; that puts Spitfire's attitude in a whole new light, with the way she looks at him or talks about him.

Another thing that adds impact is the sporadic humor. Within the first 10 or so pages, you have a lot of "post-traumatic" vibes, what with Luna's inner monologue and the faces of the other ponies holed up underground. But then we meet Annabelle.

The little statements she makes, the whole "I'm not tired!" and "FEAR ME!" in the background lighten the whole mood and is good humor, but also serve to highlight just how far everything in Equestria has gone down the crapper. This is excellent mood-whiplash with a much desired variety in what the characters are feeling.

In summary, Lunar Isolation: the Eclipse is a story that is at once engaging, amusing, pleasing to look at, and simply a good read, whether you enjoy MLP or not. The dark overtones never quite overcome the bright spots of humor and kindness that can be found all over.
